A Quick Hello

Im still here... under a cloud of sicky though. Stupid cold! I have had 3 now since I've been pregnant and only usually get sick once or twice a year!

I'll do a big Christmas recap post in a few days... but I just wanted to say Hello and Happy New Year!

New Years Day, hubby and I always spend it together shopping....and this year was no different, even though I felt a lil crummy. I have a thing for traditions even though Im not a "traditional" kinda gal.

Here is a lil snippet of our New Years Day!

My favorite lil storyboard Josh put together...

You can click it to make it big!

I will be back with hopefully a HUGE Christmas Storyboard that we are working on.

Also... I posted a few more session photos from this family right

HERE

Also... Im am becoming interested in cloth diapers... I know they are a lot of work when it comes to washing... but I'd like to know what your experience has been with cloth diapers if you used them. So share please!

I went to my first 3rd trimester prenatal appt yesterday! The nice glucose test. Honestly, I was really impressed w/the glucose stuff I had to drink. It was very thin... not gritty... and tasted like un-carbonated Slice. We met w/another one of the full time midwives, Linda and just loved her! She gave Josh a job! He got to find Josie's heartbeat w/the doppler! She explained to him that the uterus is like an upside down pear... and Josie is already HEAD DOWN! So he visualized where she would be and he was spot on! Found her lil heartbeat right away! He was so cute about it! His first proud daddy moment I think! She started to kick and adjust while he was listening to her. It was funny! Linda was very impressed w/him and now has bragging rights on Josh for finding her so quickly! haha

A little storyboard Josh did of us at the midwives!

I had my blood drawn and if I don't hear back from them this week, then Im in the clear for gestational diabetes. Praying that all is well. I have to go back Wednesday for my RH shot. I am O- blood type so I have to get the RH shot now and one after Josie's is delivered.

She is so active! It is just so much fun! Im enjoying every moment of being pregnant, minus the pregnancy colds. Just looking down and watching her lil arms and legs kick is just so much fun! She's just about up to my ribs now w/her kicks so I should be having to dig her lil feet outta my ribs soon.

My appeitite is getting back to normal. I was just so hungry over the holidays it was crazy! I feel better not being so hungry all the time!

Next appt is Jan 23rd. We are meeting Emma this time.

I'll be back soon w/our Christmas Storyboard!

  1. Amber-I just had my sweet baby girl a week ago and this is my second baby using cloth diapers. There are SO many choices, but it depends on what the ease of use you want. I would say the easiest are fuzzibunz diapers.
A VERY VERY good website that I am on is www.diaperswappers.com There is so many wonderful mamas that will answer all your questions. Plus a great place to read, and there is even a 'for sale' area for you to buy diapers from others if you so wanted to.
Please feel free to email me with any questions. ;) Its all about research and learning, and then jumping in. PLUS (!!!) they are so darn cute!

  2. Hey chick - Emma was our midwife. Be sure to tell her you guys are friends of ours. We ADORE her. Linda let MPT find the heartbeat too - a sweet moment for the daddy - for sure. :) Good luck with the cloth. I don't have the patient, strength or stomach for it. lol.

  3. Hey Amber, talk to Hollye about cloth diapering. She did it with Miss K. It is something I always thought about doing, but never did. If I had it to do over, I would though.
The rhogam shot ::shudders::, I had to have that bad boy with all of my kids. It HURTS, although I have a tip to share. One nurse told me that one of the reasons it hurt was because it is refrigerated and cold, she tried to warm it in her hands by rolling the syringe between her hands and it was the ONE time (out of many) that it didn't hurt so bad.
I am not a needle/shot person though, so if those things don't bother you it won't be as big of a deal to you though.
Good luck, the end is near.

  7. Hope you feel better soon! I'm sorry to hear you have been sick so much! I can't imagine what that feels like on top of the normal preggo stuff. :( Yeah, I'm B- so I had the RH shot...the nurse was kind enough to set it out at the start of the appt and leave it out warming for about an hour while I did the glucose test..but still, it hurt! LOL I was actually laughing because it hurt so bad (yeah, odd I know). Oh well, nothing like what we're going to experience in delivery!!! LOL
I hear ya about eating...my stomach has no more room in there with the baby...can't fit as much as I used to! LOL Hugs!

  9. hey amber! the storyboard is so cool!
i cloth diapered my youngest and mostly used bumkins brand covers with regular cloth inserts and had several all-in-ones which is the inserts and cover all together. at night and during naps i added a fleece liner to pull moisture away (these i made myself). a great source is the diaper hyena. you can even find some excellent WAHM businesses there.
http://www.thediaperhyena.com/ and mothering.com's diapering forum, http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=221. be sure to check out the Diapering Guidelines, Resources & FAQs subforum. you will find huge amounts of info and resources there!
cloth diapering is really much easier than you may think! not to mention, some of the fashions are so cute and it's so ecofriendly. did you know that it takes over 500 years for a diaper to decompose in a landfill? mind blowing!
if you have any questions you can always email me!
btw- i absolutely love your new blog banner!
