I want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences and stories w/their newborn.
It really means alot
&
helps alot.
I do have a bouncer that I have been taking her in the bathroom with me to shower and that has worked wonders!
She loves that thing!
Thanks Sherri!
I have her swing in the living room and today was her first day that after a feeding, she just laid in her swing contently while I worked on the laptop on the couch.
We have Arm's Reach Cosleeper that is next to the bed that we tried last nite. It worked for maybe an hour, then she wailed...
No dirty diaper...
Not time to nurse...
As soon as I cradled her in my arms, she was silent and asleep.
Today, she has napped twice swaddled and in her cosleeper.
She loves her hands by her face so I haven't had the heart to swaddle her completely.
We swaddle her from the armpits down, nice and tight.
Going to keep on the swaddling thing.
Day 1 & Day 2 have gone great so far.
GranniePop & Uncle Jonathan came to visit and hold her for a bit. She was nice and alert for them.
My friend is bringing us dinner and coming to meet her shortly.
Daddy will be home in a few hours.
I might try to take a nap w/her later.
I have eaten, showered, eaten some more, worked, and held my baby girl, oh and take care of 2 crazy pups.
It's been a good day!

I am teaching this class w/the spunky Kayla Aimee Terrell and it's going to be a blast!
Tell me more: You can have magazine worthy photos even without the use of a fancy camera. You really can! That perfect skin and colors that pop? Those really cool photos that look vintage? It's all in the editing of the pictures! This 5 day class is complete with screen capture video so that you can follow along as we navigate the basics of photo editing. You'll learn to give your photos an extra pop with bright color washes, cross processing, textures and more! We'll even teach you a few airbrushing secrets, like how to slim certain areas or um, enhance certain areas. Plus, the class comes with a bonus cross processing action created just for you by Ulmer Studios!

ReplyDeleteI would love to win this class! Thanks for the offer.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to tell you, don't beat yourself up over Josie sleeping in your bed. Some babies just need that closeness. Our first born, Samantha, would not sleep at all. As soon as we took her into bed with us, we were all finally able to rest. She just turned 6 and still wants to be in my bed most nights. I think it depends on the baby. Our pediatrician used to frown upon it and we received lots of negati ve thoughts. But in the end, your family is your own, and do would works best!!
Best of Luck!
Melanie
Love your photos, and Josie is ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteGLAD you and Josie are doing well. Class looks like total fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Amber...
ReplyDeletethere is no perfect or right way to be a mother. I always found the first 6 weeks to 3 months I was in survival mode. nothing else matters but surviving...try not to be hard on yourself ...by the sounds of you are doing great!!!! and don't forget ...they seriously grow sooo fast right before your eyes and so take the time for the snuggles and cuddles...you will be so thankful for it when they are walking and talking and running away from you! lol.
Wow, you really are amazing girl!! Brand new gorgeous baby AND now you are teaching a class!! WOW! I have always adored how you and Josh edit your photos and although i have tried, i just can't seem to get the same "Ulmer" look. So i would LOVE to be a part of your class. Kisses for you and Josie!
ReplyDeleteI would love to take this class Amber!

I would really like to take this class. I need something simple and at my level. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI would so love to do this class - I love taking photos but only know the basics of editing photos. This sounds perfect for me! thanks amber
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance to win!! I'd love to learn more about photography! ;)
ReplyDeleteoooh PICK ME please amber!
ReplyDeleteHOpe all is going well with princess Josephine!
And don't fret if she does cry a bit when she is in her little cot, sometimes they are happy if you just gently touch their head and coo quietly to them. My littlun's both eventually learnt to go to sleep on their own that way - with just a little reassuance from us. The did cry a mite, but if you could be there when they started to stir and gave them that gentl pat & quiet reassurance before they stirred too much, they tended to settle again!
Good luck with it all and hope you are enjoying your princess time in between the harder bits!!
Cheers,
Lee :)
this class looks so great!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to take this class. I'm totally hopeless at photo editing and don't even know where to start LOL!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome class! Photo editing is something that I really want to get into but at the same time, have almost no idea how to start, besides the absolute basics, so a class like this would be perfect! And glad to hear you are leaning what works and doesn't work for you and Josie, and by the sounds of it you are getting lots of company/help, so that is a blessing!
ReplyDeleteoooh! i'd love love love a spot! :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway! I'd love to take this class!
ReplyDeletei would LOVE to have photos that look even a little bit more like yours do!!!

ReplyDeleteI would love to have the spot in your class!! I hope I win! I LOVE looking at all your photos, you have a great eye! And, your new addition is ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally interested in that class spot ... Please throw my name in the hat!
ReplyDeleteAs for baby advice....
swaddle that little darling and keep her in that d
co-sleeper. It will be hard at first but better to get those sleepless nights now rather then when you are back working full time and try to break her of the habit. We slept with zane in a portable crib right next to the bed. He pretty much did the same thing but I would just reach over and pat him on the back or rock the crib softly and he would calm down again. Oh and soothing music is a must! Whatever you like....ocean sounds, heartbeat, yoga or meditation music works wonders. Just remember that whatever routine or habits you get her in will most likely stick. Example: zane is 2 1/2 years old and still gets rocked to sleep and listens to that same CD every night on a continuous loop.
Wow. I would love to win!!!
ReplyDeleteI NEED this class! It's been killing me that I haven't been able to sign up.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the $$ always runs out right before a class I really want to take?
Oh Pick me Pick me. PLEASE!
So sorry I missed your question yesterday! I had the hardest time with my dd when she was a newborn. I don't see that anyone recommended the book/DVD Happiest Baby on the Block by Dr. Harvey Karp...I know there are a MILLION baby advice books, but this one really worked for me when my son was born...your dr/hospital might even have a copy for you to borrow...all about getting them to take solid naps (not in your arms...to give you a break!) Hopefully you are getting some rest when she does.
ReplyDeleteOkay, off that soapbox ;) I would LOVE to take your class. How sweet that you have a giveaway for it! I just downloaded PSE 4.0 and it is frustrating me. Not sure I'll buy the full version...but I need to play some more, and this class would be a great opportunity to do that! Thanks!!
Well, you know I love your photo editing skills. So, it'd be fun to learn from the Mastah!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteWould LOVE to take this!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed~
ReplyDeletei've always wanted to know how to edit photos "correctly" :) Thanks for this opportunity!!
ReplyDeletejust wanted to say, that when my girls were newborns, they also liked their hands by their faces, but i always put them arms down their sides and wrapped them up like little burritos. they would always fall asleep faster, than if i just left their arms out. i guess the fact that they could move them around kept them awake longer. hth!
ReplyDeleteand the class looks awesome :)
learning photo editing from you would be great!
ReplyDeletehope i win :)
This sounds like a great opportunity! I'd love to learn from you!
ReplyDeleteHi Amber!

ReplyDeleteAmber,
ReplyDeleteso sweet to give away a spot to your class, I would so love to learn some new things especially from you and KA!
PS I never swaddled but Demi liked lying on her side - not sure if that will help and also she loved a paci so she numbers of them in her bassinet and crib when she got big enough. demi was colicky too so that was tough but in time they grow out of that thank goodness.
By the way, I am loving the pics you have posted of Josie - she is so beauitful!
I would absolutely love to take this class! Pick me? Hee hee.

ReplyDeleteHi Amber!
ReplyDeleteJosephine is so beautiful and her pictures are amazing!
I would love to know how to use photo shop.
Soooooo,
pick me! pick me ! pick me!
amber..having a newborn is life changing. i wasn't prepared for how emotional i was after we had our daughter. i felt very overwhelmed by everything...but it got better and i got more confident. i look at us now 2 1/2 years later with number 2 due any day and am amazed at how far we have come. she is my little sidekick. we do everything together! :) it will get easier. don't be afraid to ask for help. call friends to talk you through the hard times. i remember calling close friends and just sobbing as they would pray for and encourage me.
ReplyDeletesomething my sister in law shared with me that i thought was kind of silly, but i tried it and it worked wonders was having our daughter sleep in her infant car seat beside our bed. it honestly was amazing how well she slept in it. i think she felt all snuggled up in it, like she had been in the womb. she was cozy and secure. i put it beside our bed so she was right there when she needed to nurse. we did that for quite a while before moving her into her crib. it was just something that worked for us.
she is gorgeous! :) you're doing great!
just have a question hope you can answer..
ReplyDeletesince I live well on the other side of the pond and my awakening hours is't the same as yours.. is this class something you have to "be there" at the right hours or is it posted and you read it when you have the time?? Never taken a class before but think this is something 4 me..
OMG! How fun! Thanks for the chance to win a spot.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i would love this! thanks!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i would love this! thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear motherhood is going well for you. It takes a lot of tie to adjust to, so go easy on yourself. Just enjoy these days when she is so little. I would love to win a spot in your class. Thanks for the chance.
